Pediatrics is a branch of medicine that includes the care and treatment of childhood diseases and the study of normal growth. Physicians who specialize and are board-certified in pediatrics are known as pediatricians.

Pediatricians are trained to recognize and treat congenital defects and provide care for a number of infectious diseases in children.
