Pediatrics is
a branch of medicine that includes the care and treatment of childhood diseases
and the study of normal growth. Physicians who specialize and are
board-certified in pediatrics are known as pediatricians.
Pediatricians
are trained to recognize and treat congenital defects and provide care for
a number of infectious diseases in children. These diseases include recurrent
ear infections, mumps, measles and croup. Many of these diseases can be
prevented by immunization, which is the responsibility of the pediatrician. In
addition, a pediatrician remains alert for disorders that usually first become
apparent in childhood, such as allergies or immune deficiency diseases. AtFarrington
Family Medical Center, our board-certified
pediatrician can provide this level of comprehensive medical care to all
children, from newborn to teen.
