Outpatient arrhythmia monitoring
|
Event/Loop recorders and Holter monitors to assess heart rhythms at home.
|
Depending on your child's symptoms, your physician may
choose one of the following tests to assess his/her heart rhythm:
A Holter monitor
is a device that is placed in our office that the child wears for 24
hours. It saves every heart beat during that time and is used to assess
heart rhythms and heart rates
Event recorders
and loop recorders are devices that are
designed to capture heart rhythms during a patient's symptoms. Some models
are worn continuously and activated at time of symptoms, while others are
applied only at the time of symptoms.
These devices are placed on the child in our
office. The devices can be sent
back to the office in the mail with an envelope that
is provided. With the event recorders and loop recorders, rhythm strips are
transmitted by telephone after they are recorded.
