Tilt table testing
|
To evaluate dizziness and syncope.

Head-up tilt table
testing is a standard tool for evaluating children with dizziness
and/or episodes of syncope (passing out).
When a child undergoes a tilt table test, he/she lies on
a table for 20 minutes, after which the table is placed at an incline. Your child's heart
rate and blood pressure are monitored during the study. The test may precipitate symptoms
of dizziness, nausea, or syncope, which is helpful in assessing some children
with these symptoms. In some cases, an IV may be placed and
a medicine given to bring out these symptoms.
The duration of the test may range from 30 min-1 hour, and
the results are discussed immediately following the study.
