Sunscreen 101

Picking the right sunscreen can be confusing. UVA, UVB, SPF? Where to begin? For starters, purchasing a fresh bottle of sunscreen on a yearly basis that provides broad-spectrum protection from the sun's harmful UltraViolet rays [A & B] is your best bet. Products with active ingredients including Titanium Dioxide or Zinc Oxide provide the most efficient coverage with the lowest irritation. Sunscreen Protection Factor [SPF] 30 or higher is recommended, but all sunscreen should be applied 30 minutes before exposure to the sun and reapplied every two hours. Following these recommendations can help to prevent sun damage and premature aging of the skin attributed to sun exposure.
